Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system of all mammals. GABA is directly responsible for regulating muscle tone. Playing a central role in regulating neuronal excitability within our nervous systems.
GABA also get’s used to help treat both epilepsy and hypertension. The consensus being it induces calm and tranquility in subjects showing a high activity of manic behavior. Without the risk of becoming addicted, Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid can be used much like a tranquilizer.
GABA has also been associated with skin barrier homeostasis and regulation of the receptors, clinically proven to be effective for barrier against dysfunctional or epidermal hyperproliferative diseases. GABA helps in wrinkle reduction by relaxing the muscles in the face that that are tense and creating wrinkles.
